Dress To Impress And Clinch That Job

Perhaps one of the few things even more stressful than worrying about the questions that may come up in a job interview, is worrying about what to wear. More than anything, you want to look professional enough to fit in with the company.
As a rule, men should never come overdressed for job interviews. A crisp shirt and tie or suit ensemble will suffice. For women, on the other hand, things are a little bit more complicated. It works for both men and women to pick outfits that are comfortable but well-tailored. But for women, pants that are too tight or a top that is too snug across the chest are certainly things to stay away from. This will only pose as a distraction for both you and your interviewer.
In line with this, be sure to pick clothes in colors that are appropriate for the occasion. Try to avoid bright colors and bold prints. You want your interviewer to focus on your answers to the questions and not what you’re wearing. Obviously the clothing you wear will only play a minor role in the overall outcome, but it’s little things like this that can certainly add up and you want to get as many small details as possible right.
Hygiene and grooming are also key; make sure you look neat and tidy. However, try to avoid wearing a strong scent during the interview. Since most interviews are held in small, confined spaces, wearing an overpowering scent could pose as a distraction to the process.
Make sure to keep your fingernails short and clean as well. Your hair must be well groomed. Most importantly, if you can’t brush your teeth right before the interview, make sure to bring a mint with you.
You may think that looks have nothing to do with your qualifications for a job. But the truth is a person’s overall appearance matters in the workforce, especially for those who deal with clients face-to-face. Companies don’t just hire people who can do the job; they want people who can represent them in the best possible light.
