Fashion changes so fast these days that it can be really hard to keep up with it. Never fear, though, for we’ve checked out the top trends in women’s jewellery for 2011 and put them into this handy guide for you to read. Firstly, mismatched bracelets are going to be really big. This is great as it means if you can’t decide which bracelet to wear, you can just wear them all. It also gives you scope to reuse items you’ve bought previously instead of getting all new stuff.
Long earrings are also going to be very big. Simply put, the bigger the better, really. Earrings that dust along or just skim above your shoulders are really popular right now, which gives you some great scope to make a fashion statement with your jewellery. Big hoop earrings are also popular. These styles of earrings are especially good if they come with lots of interesting, eye-catching details such as the inclusion of gems to catch the light or perhaps a couple of crystals.
If you like to be up to date with what the time is, then one great trend is the thin metal watch in either silver or gold. At the other end of the spectrum, thick cuff watches that you can slide on like a bracelet are also really popular. These are basically a watch embedded in a cuff of fabric and they come in loads of different colors and styles. Bright, bold colors and intricate designs are key ways to wear them, and they’re sure to make your outfit pop.

Presents are a problem. Over time, when buying presents for the same person for the same occasions over and over you can find yourself in a real rut. The standby presents become too generic and too predictable. After a while they also lose meaning and you fail to think about the person you are buying it for. Vintage jewellery is a way to avoid that whole scenario.
This is no easy way out. This is also not a money saving way out. These pieces can often be very valuable and are not to be mixed up with costume fakes. Depending on where you get them you might be able to save some money, but not much.
There are many different places that you can look for these. You might try and antique dealer. You should watch for estate sales and auctions. You could even check a flea market. No matter you get it, try to find out as much as you can about the piece you are buying.

Vivienne Westwood – born Vivienne Isabel Swire in 1941 in Tintwistle – has earned her world reputation for her creative designs in both menswear and womenswear.
A former student at the Harrow School of Art, a 17 year old Westwood took fashion and silversmithing for a year before leaving, citing her reasons as uncertainty that a girl from working-class roots would be able to make it in the art world. She took a job as a primary school teacher but it was clear fashion wasn’t far from her mind as she was making her own jewellery to sell on the side from a stall on London’s trendy Portobello Road.
In 1971, she opened her first shop ‘Let It Rock’ on King’s Road where she started selling clothes she designed herself. Later on, she changed the name of her shop to ‘Sex’. She achieved her first great success when her partner at the time, Malcolm McLaren, asked her to design clothes for a band he managed – the Sex Pistols. The recognition was huge as Westwood daring designs made the punk genre popular in both music and fashion while advertising menswear and womenswear to young people.

Managing to keep up with fashion can be a challenging and costly hobby. Frequently trends will come and go fast and the new dress you bought last season will become extremely dated in a short space of time. It is wise to be cautious about buying clothing that is geared strictly towards one look.
One way to keep up with fashion is by using accessories and costume jewellery to update your look easily. The floral trend can easily be captured through fashion jewellery for example.
One of the biggest benefits that using accessories brings is that you have the ability to mix and match your looks, also the jewellery you bought last season will usually be perfectly fine to wear season after season as accessories tend to not date as fast as items of clothing do.
