There are certain brands of clothing that just want to keep it as rough as possible, brands that stick to provocative designs and anti-social attitude. Of course not everyone is fit to wear their clothing, but it is definitely thing for people who are involved in urban culture and interested in speaking their ideas out loud. People, who still support illegal graffiti and stickers, people who stick to the old values formed by the pioneers of the genre. In this article we will take a look at some of the aggressive brands.

Rogue Status is a US brand established in 2005 and based on anti-establishment principles. In its designs the label creates controversy and shows things that not all people want to see. It is truly a protesting label that must be worn with an understanding of what do you have on your t-shirt.

The designers use familiar images and manage to fuse them into something new and still keep the main idea, like this Politricks tee. Some of the clothing carries a really aggressive attitude which by the way is included into both Rogue Status clothing and Rogue Status accessories. The brand offers a wide range of clothing with different designs but united under the same idea of protesting and speaking out loud. In addition to their visual protesting Rogue Status also donates a part of their income to serving American soldiers, helping them to stay in touch with their families. So this is a brand that is not just about words.

DTA Clothing (Don’t Trust Anyone) is also a protesting brand from US closely related to Rogue Status. Their designs are mainly provocative against government propaganda, violence and aggression. They often use familiar symbols and logos but change them so they can carry a different message. For example this Crest t-shirt has an eagle compiled of guns which symbolizes the aggression and violence of the official government structures.

Of course today hip-hop culture is largely accepted and commercialized and due to these factors the culture almost lost its edginess and protest. So at this point it is great that such brands as Rogue Status, DT and crews like Wild Ones support the real oppositional values and return urban culture to its rebellious roots. It is a new living and breathing underground and you can also become a part of it by expression your views and disagreement at least through your clothing.

Whilst some runners might face looking at a Winter running outdoors as a fate worse than death and decide that they are going to stick to the treadmill, for others running outdoors all year is no problem at all. Often the difference between those who tolerate running in the cold and those who don’t is what they wear.

Clearly running in the winter requires a change of running clothes, when compared to the summer. Shorts and a t-shirt are not really the best idea, unless you are an elite runner competing in a race. Therefore as a runner looking to wear suitable clothing for cold weather running the first thing to consider is what you will be comfortable wearing.

Every runner is unique and for some people, who run ‘hot’ they typically can get away with wearing less clothes than those who are more susceptible to the cold. Experimentation over short distances is a good idea. However, it can be normal that when you head out for a run that you are initially cold, then you warm up you start getting way too hot. Also- for those who run longer distances after a while when you settle into your run you can start to get very cold again, which can be dangerous and will hamper your running performance.

Most people know that a lot of heat is lost through a person’s head, therefore wearing a hat can help reduce this heat loss and keep you warm. Also- wearing running gloves is another great way of staying warm. Some runners still wear short sleeved tops, and running vest along with their gloves as they find this is enough to keep them warm when you run. Typically gloves and hats are relatively light weight so are easy to carry when you start to warm up, or alternatively put back on again if you start to get too cold.

Running gillets are another great way to keep some heat where it matters more, at your core, whilst allowing you to remain fairly cool. Again experimenting is a great idea here. For those runners who tend to feel the cold more than most winter running jackets or rain jackets will almost certainly keep you warm when you run.

Base-layers are another useful piece of clothing to experiment with when out running. Sometimes combining a base layer with a t-shirt will be enough to keep you warm.

Ensuring that you experiment with different clothes and running distances will enable you to prepare for most circumstances. Also it is worth remembering that when racing most people tend to run harder and faster, so wearing too much clothes in these circumstances can mean you overheat. Keeping one eye on the outdoor temperature and weather forecast is also a great way of ensuring you do not get caught out. There is an old Norwegian saying that states that there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing and when it comes to running in the winter it is proved to be very correct.

Since my cute dark denim jeans don’t fit what about the rest of my clothes? I was unemployed for eight months and so was my wardrobe. My fashion during this time period consisted of a t-shirt, hoodie, jeans or yoga pants, which are pretty forgiving. I would have been a perfect candidate for TLC’s What Not To Wear. Action was required. I needed to try on my clothes and make some executive decisions. I was afraid though. It’s always depressing trying on clothes that don’t fit, but it’s worse to keep them around and torture yourself every time you go to wear them. The adventure began. Many clothes ended up on their way to the Goodwill. I need to buy a few more pairs of pants since I was starting work. However, my funds were limited so only a few essential pieces were on the list. This too was a rude awakening as my pants size jumped up by two since the summer.

The jeans I was trying to get back into were in the middle of the before and after so my goal was not unrealistic or unattainable. After this experience my motivation was intensified.

I feel I must interject my disclaimer before I go any further. My body will never look like it did when I was 20. I am a woman now and I have curves and to tell you the truth I love them. Gap even makes curvy jeans just for women like me. I know at what weight I feel comfortable and that’s what I am working towards. I will not be a size four. In fact sign me up for a size eight please. Along with weight management fitness is a great stress reliever and improves overall health and wellness. Who couldn’t use some of that?

As for my wardrobe I was limited. I needed to step up my fashion game as well; the key accessories.

All you need to update an outfit are a few accessories. Here are several ways to help get ideas. Window shopping; I know it can be torture if you are not buying but remember it’s about ideas and working with what you got. Catalogues and magazines are also a good source for ideas. Check out what some other fashionistas are wearing. For example you can take a pair of jeans a white t-shirt and maybe an old suit jacket; voila a new look. Highlight that work ensemble with a chunky necklace. Mix and match your essential pieces. How about slacks a cute tee and a vest. I also tried new color combinations. The color wheel helped me find the colors that work well together; it also defines complimentary and analogous colors. Color is my friend. Don’t forget about the shoes. I know there are some shoes in my closet that haven’t seen the streets in a while. Bring those cuties out and spice up that outfit. Change out your purse. Throw on a scarf. The possibilities are endless you are only limited by your fashion imagination. Remember fashion is not only about looking your best it’s lots of fun!
